Whimsical Wednesday: "DOODLE STITCHING"

"DOODLE STITCHING" is FREE FORM STITCHING
Winter is the best time to hunker down with some colorful threads and fabrics and stitch your art out.  A mindless, but very mindful hand stitching project is very relaxing and therapeutic and is one of my favorite things to do this time of year.  It's the perfect way to "make your own happy"!!

HOOP YOUR THREADS:
A fun way to keep your threads and floss untangled and easily accessible  is to loop them over an inexpensive embroidery hoop.  I wrapped the splintery wood with washi tape to prevent snags.  Pull the desired color from the knot and the thread slides out perfectly.  Display them in your work area as decoration.  Of course my 2 bengal cats love this idea, so they don't hang on a door knob too long!
HOW TO TRANSFER A BOOK DESIGN ONTO FABRIC:
  1. Trace the design from the book onto tracing paper.
  2. Place the image under the fabric you are using your preferred transfer tool, like a soluble fabric pen or chalk marker. To see the design more clearly,  easily, tape the paper and fabric onto a sunny window or use a light box
  3. Copy the design by tracing it directly onto the fabric.  Use a light source like a sunny window or lightbox .
  4. Here's a little freebie from my book for you to print and stitch.
  5. PDF IMAGE DOWNLOAD:

Happy stitching!
